Chase Bank has kicked off its planned extensive retail expansion by opening the doors to the public at its new branch in Mombasa city.
Built at a cost of Ksh 35 million, the branch is the first of four new branches that marks the most significant expansion in the bank's eleven year history. It is located in the Central Business District on the ground floor of Jubilee building and will be open from 8:30am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 11:30 am on Saturdays. The other upcoming branches are in Nairobi's Landmark plaza, Eastleigh and Parklands.
Chase Bank Managing Director Zafrullah Khan said that the branch had been opened to the public following receipt of regulatory approvals from the Central Bank of Kenya. Said Mr Khan; "These branch additions are part of our retail strategy of specifically targeting a niche market in emerging growth locations rather than competing head-to-head with bigger banks for all types of retail deposits".
Mr Khan pointed out that the unique design of the new branches reflected Chase bank's corporate identity that is based on the values of professionalism, honesty, flexibility and courtesy in providing services.
"The opening of the new Mombasa branch is a fundamental starting point that reflects the core of our corporate values aiming at providing all services, facilities and distinctive banking solutions in a modern and creative way" said Mr Khan, adding that the bank would also strive to meet the aspirations and the needs of its clients in various economic sectors.
He noted that as a new entrant into the Mombasa banking scene winning new business would be very competitive but that the bank had put a lot of homework in its new approach. "Our relationships have meant that we walk with our customers each of the way. We are now taking this to a new level", he added.
The bank's head office in Nairobi also underwent extensive renovation and refurbishment prominently introducing the bank's identity and brand values.
Chase bank last week reported a 122 per cent rise in its third quarter pre tax profits, posting Ksh 146 million compared to last year's Ksh 67 million.
